Legal Basics Workshop: March 2nd, 2019

Attorneys Kitzke & Canfield Host Seminar for Small Business Owners

As an entrepreneur entering the small business waters, or an existing business owner already in the business pool, you are prepared to deliver great products and services, but may lack the legal background to know how to confidently form and operate a business. You may be frustrated with online searches, “good advice” from well-meaning friends, and confusing legal language used on government websites. You may worry about high cost lawyers, yet don’t want to make a legal error that will cause you delays or worse, lawsuits.

This overview course, presented by Grafton business counseling attorneys Kitzke & Canfield, will explain the legal basics and help business start-ups know when you need professional legal advice and where to get it.

In this course, you will learn the basics concerning:

  • Determining the best legal entity and optimal tax election for your business.
  • The supporting documentation needed and how to get a Federal Employer ID number.
  • Key terms of legal agreements, contracts and torts.

While all are welcome, this Seminar is targeted for business owners and startup entrepreneurs who need an awareness and understanding (or refresher) of Wisconsin and federal laws related to forming a business entity and understanding legal contract terms.
